Accident Investigations

Depending on the agreed scope and available evidence, Pinpoint can supply photographs of accident vehicles, a diagram of the accident scene, and written or consented recorded statements from interviews with drivers and/or witnesses.

Pinpoint Investigations & Security Corp. provides these services throughout Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.

Who Uses This Service

  • Plaintiff and defense attorneys, law firms, and litigation teams.
  • Insurance carriers, claims professionals, adjusters, and special investigation units.
  • Businesses, fleet operators, property owners or managers, contractors, employers, and self-insured organizations.
  • Individuals and families who need independent documentation after a serious injury or fatality.
  • Reconstruction, engineering, safety, and other litigation experts who require licensed field-investigation support.

When to Contact Pinpoint

Clients usually call because evidence is disappearing, the official account is incomplete, or liability is disputed. Common triggers include:

  • Conflicting accounts of how the incident occurred or an inaccurate/incomplete police report.
  • Unknown, uncooperative, or difficult-to-locate witnesses.
  • Surveillance, dash-camera, or doorbell video that may soon be overwritten.
  • Hit-and-run, uninsured-driver, staged-accident, or fraud concerns.
  • A roadway, vehicle, building, or construction condition that may be repaired, moved, or altered.
  • A need for independent evidence to evaluate a claim, defense, settlement position, or trial strategy.

What to Expect

Initial intake: we discuss what happened, the legal or claims objective, locations, deadlines, known witnesses, and evidence at risk.

Information requested: police/incident reports, photographs or video, party and vehicle details, medical or property records relevant to the assignment, correspondence, and any required authorization.

Scope and authorization: we define priorities, provide written terms, and begin after the retainer and required approvals are received. Time-sensitive preservation work is prioritized.

Investigation: scene work, record review, camera and witness canvasses, witness location/interviews, and other agreed investigative steps. Material developments are communicated to the client.

Deliverable: a clear, chronological report identifying what was done, what was observed, sources, witness information or statements, photographs, video/evidence links, unresolved issues, and recommended next steps. Testimony or follow-up work is available when requested.

Timing and Availability

Urgent triage may begin the same day or next business day when personnel, location, access, and authorization permit. No start time is guaranteed until the assignment is accepted and funded.

A scene inspection and initial camera/witness canvass may take one to three days. Locating and interviewing witnesses may take several days or weeks, depending on cooperation and available identifiers.

Police, 911/CAD, EMS, medical, business-video, and government records depend on third-party response times and may take weeks or longer.

Timing varies with urgency, camera-retention periods, weather, repairs, site access, witness availability, agency backlogs, subpoenas handled through counsel, the number of locations, and case complexity.

When useful, we provide interim findings before the final report so counsel or the claims team can act on time-sensitive information.

Why Pinpoint

Experienced supervision: work is supervised by Igor Galitsky, a retired NYPD Sergeant/Supervisor Detective with 23 years of law-enforcement and investigative experience.

Licensed, regional capability: Licensed Private Detective, in New Jersey and New York, with practical knowledge of New York and New Jersey investigations.

Field-driven response: we move quickly to document transient evidence, locate witnesses, and identify video before conditions change or footage is erased.

Disciplined process: interviewing, surveillance, scene documentation, public-record research, evidence organization, and specialist coordination are matched to the assignment.

Clear reporting: facts, client-provided information, observations, and investigative assessments are distinguished in organized reports with photographs, video links, dates, sources, and documented limitations.

Important Limits

  • An investigator does not decide legal fault or guarantee a claim result. We find, preserve, verify, and report facts. Attorneys, insurers, courts, and qualified reconstruction or engineering experts make legal and technical determinations within their roles.
  • A police or incident report is an important starting point, but it may contain errors or omit witnesses, video, physical conditions, or later-developed evidence.
  • Video and private records are not automatically available. We can identify sources, make lawful requests, and seek preservation; compulsory production generally requires the proper legal process through counsel.
  • Waiting can permanently reduce what can be recovered. Camera systems overwrite recordings, scenes are repaired, vehicles move, weather changes conditions, and memories fade.

A De-identified Example

De-identified matter: An attorney retained us after a motor-vehicle collision because the available report left unanswered questions about independent witnesses.

What we did: We conducted neighborhood and database research, made telephone, text, and in-person contact attempts, used a Spanish-language interpreter, interviewed a cooperating witness, obtained a recorded statement with consent, and documented each field attempt with time-stamped photographs. When another potential witness declined to cooperate, that response and our efforts were also documented.

General result: Counsel received a comprehensive written report, the witness statement link, supporting photographs, and a clear record of both successful and unsuccessful witness-development efforts for use in evaluating the matter and planning next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon should I call?

As soon as possible. Early action improves the chance of preserving video, documenting temporary conditions, identifying witnesses, and avoiding loss of evidence.

Can you obtain surveillance video?

We can identify camera sources, canvass owners, make lawful requests, and seek preservation. Availability is not guaranteed; compulsory production may require a subpoena or other legal process through counsel.

Will you interview witnesses?

Yes. We locate and approach witnesses professionally, conduct fact-focused interviews, and obtain signed or recorded statements when authorized and with consent. We cannot force anyone to cooperate.

Do you decide who was at fault?

No. We document and verify the facts. Legal fault is determined by the appropriate attorneys, insurers, judges, or juries; technical causation may require a qualified reconstruction or engineering expert.

What will I receive?

The scope controls the deliverable, but it normally includes a chronological written report, actions taken, sources, photographs, witness information or statements, video/evidence links, findings, limitations, and recommended follow-up.

What does the service cost?

We work on a retainer basis. The required retainer and estimated effort depend on urgency, locations, number of investigators, records, witnesses, and expert needs. Fees and approved expenses are explained in writing before work begins.
